Jon practically melted into that kiss. Zoe did too. But then he came to his senses and realized what he was doing. He pulled back suddenly, alarming Zoe. But it was enough to snap her out of her odd behavior as well.
"Ugh, I can't believe I just did that," Zoe said, spitting. "What the hell is happening?"
"I don't know. But I think it might be a good idea for us to stay away from each other," he said. But even now, he was feeling like he wanted to do the opposite, and so was she. That sense of normalcy was returning.
Zoe quickly unlocked the bedroom door and headed downstairs to make breakfast, something her mom would normally do, but it would keep her away from Jon.
