"Mom," said Cee-Jay's suddenly female voice, can I have my stone back? Please? Grandpa gave it to me.
She looked at it and said "Cee-Jay, you'll use the rock to help the family if I ask, right? If your mother were to ever become sick, for instance..."
"Of course! Mom, please, I need the rock back. This is bad enough as it is..."
She seemed to consider it, and then gave the rock to Cee-Jay.
Cee-Jay and Karyn left for Cee-Jay's room. The former Jon pretty much was expecting it to have changed, and she wasn't disappointed, though it could have been a lot worse. There were blouses and skirts, but a lot of other things were the same.
"You're in trouble," said Karyn. "You're a girl."
"Yeah, tell me about it," replied Cee-Jay. "She didn't even think about it. I mean, imagine, your Mom changes your sex for no reason at all?"
"She probably wanted a girl."
"Yeah, she probably wanted a girl, but she didn't consider that I'm a person, and she was changing my life. Grandpa gave the rock to me, and not her, and I can see why now. Will I have to live out the rest of my life as a girl?"
