CJ decided that the best course of action was to simply allow the wish. If she didn't pretend well enough, she thought, it might let slip to her mother that something was amiss. And, what's the worse that could happen given one day of wanting to be a woman. Of course, wanting to be Jon again, and grow up to be a woman were not mutually exclusive. Jon was, after all, still growing himself. Nor did it actually make her want to be in ballet.

JC opened her door to her room -- it felt so much simpler to say that. To be secure in who she was, and not lament who she had been. And upon opening the door, JC saw that those things weren't too different. She still saw the bookshelf with ratty and worn fantasy novels. But coming closer, JC also saw a few romance novels mixed in there. One of them, a new book, had a ballerina on the cover.

Did she really like romance novels, she wondered? JC didn't really know, but decided to follow her instincts and threw the book onto her bed for later . . . investigation.

Her dresser set was quite different from what she used to have. It was short and long with a large mirror that spanned the whole unit. There were photos on it, photos of JC in full ballet regalia. Goofy photos of her backstage. Beautiful photos of her on stage. There was also a scheduling sheet marked up in two colors. Pink seemed to be when JC had ballet practice, and Blue when JC seemed to be helping a class, and she was going to help teaching classes tomorrow.

There were other photos of JC in the world. She liked sundresses and tights, sometimes with shorts underneath. School attire was more casual and more what JC remembered: t-shirts and jeans, but with a bit more fashion sense. Makeup was not a high priority.

"Thank God for that" JC said, as her eyes wandered to a photo near the center of her photo collage. It seemed to have been taken recently, and it was a selfie of JC and a boy, who had has arm possessively around JC. Wait, do I have a BOYFRIEND?!

JC's jaw dropped. Maybe the stone had been too clever. JC had figured she would like girls, and maybe she did. But she touched the photo with her manicured fingers and swallowed. Who was this boy? JC bit her lip. She knew Mom would be starting to get angry at her for not coming down to help with the twins. But there were still more things to discover in her room ...
