"I just wish that this whole CJ thing would get sorted out so I can get back to my life."
All of a sudden the lights dimmed. No, wait... The lights hadn't dimmed. Jon had just changed position to a darker part of the room--in fact, she was suddenly inside a bathroom stall. Jon opened the stall door to catch her reflection in a mirror; she had turned back to CJ from that wish.
Then Jon saw both Sarah and herself--or the Jennifer C. version of herself--standing there and was utterly confused. What in the world? She had just been JC, right?
"Oh my God," Sarah shouted and she ran up to the girl. "Are you CJ? CJ Black?"
CJ nodded, bewildered. Sarah quickly grabbed the girl's hand and sighed with relief.
"C'mon, sweetie, lets get you back to your mom," said Sarah. CJ let herself be taken away by Sarah, but glowered at JC as she passed. How was this possible? What had the stone done? Was JC a wholly new person, or did she have all her and Jon's memories? CJ tried to think this through. Does she still count as herself for the purpose of making a remote wish?
JC exited the restroom behind CJ and watched as Mom and Karyn noticed CJ and ran to her. Mom gave her kisses and hugs while scolding her for running away, while JC stayed at a distance. "Thank you," Mom said, "thank you both," as if JC was a stranger.
JC felt something in her dressmnear her shoulder, as she was hugged. Once her Mom let go, she pulled it out. It felt like a piece of paper. But she couldn't see it. An invisible piece of paper. Then it occurred to her. She had wished for a list of wishes, then wished for it to disappear. She couldn't reverse the wish that she have a list, so it could only disappear by turning invisible.
As she tore up the invisible list and sprinkled little bits of invisible paper on the floor, JC watched her. Then JC suddenly said "Mrs. Parker, I need to speak to CJ. It'll only be a few minutes and I won't let her run away."
"All right," said Jon's mother. JC reached for CJ's hand and led her away to the hall.
As soon as they were out of sight, JC said "I saw you tear up that invisible paper. I realized what it was as soon as you did and the fact that you know what it is proves you're me. So we need to talk. We don't have a lot of time...."
CJ said "I wasn't going to hide it. I wanted to talk to you too. Let's think this out. Sorting something out is a vague wish. I think pretty much anything at all that we could do could conceivably be called sorting it out, so I'm not sure how much that really limits us."
"Yeah," said JC. "Besides, I should be able to change back from JC anyway. But the whole point is to see how far Mom and Karyn would go, what their real intentions are. And I'm not even in my own family! I have an idea."
