"So, how was your day," mom asked, opening the door for Cee-Jay.
"My day was B-O-R-I-N-G." Cee-Jay replied cheerily. Mom looked down to her daughter.
"CJ, you don't have to be sarcastic about it."
"I'm sorry, mother, but what did you expect? I've already taken all these classes."
Her mom nodded. "Ohhh. Right." She thought for a moment, "Well, I'm sure there's a way to fix that."
"Pllllllease don't just wish that I was always interested in school, mother." Cee-Jay had already come with her plan to fix this problem, which was to change back to Jon whenever Karyn or Mom weren't around. She was just waiting and figuring the best way to make that wish. Better to plan for a perfect tomorrow than wish for a wretched today, she thought.
Suddenly, Cee-Jay felt two sets of nimble fingers reach around her and start to tickle her incessantly. The girl screamed and giggled simultaneously and turned to see a laughing Karyn. "Ready to dance and twirl in your little tutu?" Karyn asked with a smile. She held up Cee-Jay's blue leotard and spun around a few times.
"I thought you wanted me to like ballet class, mom." Cee-Jay said. The two older women laughed and all three got in the car and headed for the studio.
Cee-Jay started at the speeding world, paying no attention to the "adults."
"How does that sound, CJ?" Mom said.
"Huh?"
"How would you like Karyn to baby-sit you tonight while your dad and I go out to dinner and a movie?"
Karyn turned around a looked at the little girl, "We'll swap girly stories, play with your dolls, and in the morning, I'm making waffles!"
Cee-Jay grinned at the reference, but said, "I am old enough for you to trust home alone for a few hours, mom."
"Not really the point, squirt. You mom got you last night. I get you tonight. 'Sides, it'll be an educational experience for you."
Of course, Cee-Jay thought, if I actually made a choice, you guys wouldn't have any fun. A minute later, the group had arrived. Ballet class was about to begin.
