Jon stood on the stoop clutching the stone that Sarah had dropped, and the two girls just froze, and slowly looked up at him. They both seemed to be upset at what he had just said.
"What the hell would you do that for?" Karyn asked angrily.
"Jesus, Jon!" Sarah said, also upset.
"What?" Jon asked, "Why can't we all just be friends, like we were in 3rd grade?"
The two girls looked at each other and then back at Jon.
"Because that Bitch stole my boyfriend, and then spread rumors that I was some sort of slut!" Karyn said, still upset.
"What?" Sarah snapped "I didn't STEAL anyone! Jake asked ME out!" her eyes narrowed. "And that creepy fuck tried to cop a feel on our first fucking date, with my dad in the front seat of the car!"
"He was my boyfriend!" Karyn said angrily "And you knew that, and went on that date with him anyway!"
"No," Sarah said, correcting the issue after years of misinformation "He told everyone that he dumped you because you had cheated on him with Oscar! I only agreed to go out with him because I felt bad for him. But once I figured out he was a creep, I had my dad drive that prick home!"
"What?" Karyn said, shocked.
"Yeah!" Sarah continued "You never even asked me what happened, after that fucking prick told you I threw myself at him and started those stupid rumors, you just fucking believed him!"
"B-but." Karyn stuttered. "Why didn't you ever tell me this?" she asked.
"Well, you had you're mind so set on the fact that I was some slutty whore out to get you, that you became a different person toward me. I felt like you hated me, and it made me very defensive."
The two girls just stared at each other in silence for a minute and then, much to Jon's surprise, they hugged each other. Tears flowed, and sniffles were stifled, as the two girls reconciled after years of animosity.
"Um." Jon said. "can... can we go inside?" he said looking around self-consciously.
"Huh?" Sarah and Karyn broke their hug and dried their eyes with the backs of their hands, "What's the matter?" Sarah asked.
"Seriously?" Jon said, motioning to his outfit, a pink baby-T, Capri-pants and mary-jane shoes. "I'm wearing girl's clothes. Please, can we go inside and fix this now?"
