Zoe always got a bad rap from being the way the was. Oh, her mom excepted it, but most of the neighborhood didn't. And there were also most of the people at school. But now, she could do something about it. With this wishing rock, she could make everyone like being around someone like her.
She held the rock in her hand and said clearly "I wish ... everyone else would become a Goth."
The rock grew warm in her hand and she was compelled to look away, as the rock glowed a bright white light.
She opened her eyes. Nothing looked different, until she looked at herself in her bedroom mirror. She wasn't a Goth anymore!
"What happened?!" She thought about what she said and came to the conclusion that the rock must have interpreted "everyone else" as meaning "everyone but me".
She stared at the normal-looking girl in the mirror before her. Part of her wanted to go back to how she was before, but another part of her didn't. That part didn't want anything to do with being Goth. And she thought that that part of her was being affected by the wishing rock.
Just then, breaking her out of her thoughts, there was a knock at the door.
