"Well, I sort of ..."
"Hey, isn't that Karyn?" Jon waved to her. "Hey, Karyn!"
"Oh no." Zoe made a quick wish. "I wish Jon would be wearing his normal clothing." The stone glowed and Jon was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. Better. He won't fit in with everyone else, but at least he's not dressed as a girl, Zoe thought.
Karyn walked across the street and said "Do I know you?" Apparently Jon had not been integrated into the timeline. Karyn didn't know him. Yes, he was Zoe's older brother, but the stone treated him as a recent addition to the timeline, like if someone using the stone wished up a thousand dollars and the person who wished it wouldn't have had the thousand dollars in the time before the wish was made. (Anyone confused yet?) This means that Zoe's mom wouldn't know who he was either.
"Karyn? What happened to you? What's with the get-up?"
"Zoe? Who is this guy? I'm gonna take a guess that he's not from around here."
"Karyn, it's me. Jon." Karyn showed no sense of recognition. "We're best friends."
"I don't think so. I wouldn't be friends with someone like you."
"Zoe, what did you wish for?" Jon demanded.
"I wished that everyone would become a Goth."
Jon looked at Karyn, who was now a Goth. His best friend was a Goth, and she didn't even know him, she didn't remember him. Jon looked back at Zoe and tried to grab the stone from her, and Zoe dropped the stone out of surprise.
Jon bent down to get it, but Zoe was reaching for it too. And Karyn tried to grab Jon. "Are you okay, Zoe? I can't believe this freak hit you like that." Karyn got a hold on Jon and kept him from getting the stone.
Zoe hadn't reached for it yet, though. Maybe Jon could still get it.
