Eventually, the man came back out. I couldn't help but feel a rush of joy at seeing him. I knew that part of it was the machine, forcing me to act "in character", but part of it was just plain and simple relief that he was back. Sitting around outside unable to leave had made me acutely aware of just how dependent I was upon him. And frankly, it was kind of boring. There wasn't that much to look at except for some run down houses here, and the occasional tumbleweed.
"But Edrick!" Someone called after the man. "You can't seriously be thinking of going to look for the Scepter and Regalia of Purity, can you? This is madness!"
The man (apparently named Edrick?) turned, while unhitching my bridle and getting on. "I don't see that I have any choice, Cenaris. It is the only thing I can think of that might be powerful enough to break the curse on Sara and her sisters. And we don't have much time."
He started to lead me away, and called back over his shoulder "Besides. If the legends are true, it should have no problem. They do say that it can lift any curse with a simple touch."
At this, I perked up a bit. Any curse, did he say? I wondered if whatever game hackery Damien had used to stick me in this role counted as a curse. Maybe there was a way out after all? I was getting tired of having a beak and feathers...
