Sarah said "Now, I wish I'm home," and disappeared. Jon didn't know what to do--his best chance was to contact Karyn, but considering how the stone worked, there's no reason Karyn would be best friends with a female accountant at Sarah's dad's company. Yet she'd have to remember something--she'd have to at least know she had her hair and breasts changed by magic, since that wish was still made in her hearing.
Jon went to bed but found himself automatically setting his--her now--alarm clock for an earlier time. In the morning, Jon woke up and went outside to drive to work. She stopped and took out her license--her name was now Jana Madison. She quickly put it away--she was out of time and didn't want to be late for work!
Sarah's dad did in fact own the company. It was one of those software startups back in the 1990's and good business sense and several strokes of luck had allowed him to become very rich.
They have to have a sexual harassment policy, thought Jana. He can't just come and have sex with me. She ritualistically sat down at a desk she had never really sat at before and checked her email using a password she had never typed before. It had several messages from Jacob McMillan. She read them and it seemed that she and the owner were already in a relationship!
Karyn sat down with Sarah at lunch. Sarah wrinkled her nose, too surprised to even try to tell her she's not wanted. Karyn didn't notice and asked "Any luck?"
"What?" replied Sarah.
"Any luck fixing the accidental you-know-what that made my you-know-what like yours?"
"No, I don't know what!" she exclaimed.
Karyn leaned towards Sarah and whispered, "The wish!"
"I didn't have anything to do with-- fine. I get it. Wishes change reality. No, I haven't thought of anything. Let me guess, you're my best friend now, with Jon gone?"
"Seriously? How many female friends do you have, anyway?"
Sarah couldn't give a good answer. Obviously Karyn thought she knew Sarah well. "Okay, you're my best female friend. Not counting the sister I don't have yet."
"Sarah, something's obviously bothering you," said Karyn.
"You'd never believe me. Now..." Sarah was going to tell her to buzz off, but didn't.
"Try me."
Sarah reached into the one pocket that she did have on her blouse and touched the stone. "I wish Karyn doesn't hear this wish, and realizes she has to go do something now."
Immediately, Karyn said "Never mind. I have to go. See you around. Bye!", took a large and quick bite of her sandwich, and got up and left.
Jana's instinctive reaction to Jacob clashed horribly with her memories of Jon. After she and Jacob went out to dinner, she found herself kissing him and actually being excited by it. His home wasn't quite a mansion, but it definitely cost more than Jon's family would have made. When they went inside, they had passed Sarah, who quickly went into her room and closed the door.
Jana didn't know how to feel. Being penetrated like that would be humiliating for Jon, but for a woman it was just sex. The pleasure was spread out in a strange way, over strange parts of her body. Then she felt something wrong, something rubbing in a strange way.
Jacob said "I think the condom broke. Talk about killing the mood." He rolled around and tried to pull out as best he could. In the light he looked towards his crotch and saw that it had indeed broken. "Look, Jana, I wasn't expecting this to... You'd better go home and... douche or clean yourself or whatever you do."
Jana suspected that Jacob was just guessing and there was nothing she could do to avoid conception at this point short of a morning-after pill. Or luck in being at the wrong point in her cycle. And she was also pretty sure the wish wouldn't allow either one.
