The moment he stepped out of the girls' bathroom, though, Jon had a thought. A brilliant thought. He remembered what he said to Karyn the previous day and realized how much better Karyn's life would be if she was more like Sarah McMillan. Jon and Karyn could even start hanging out more.
Jon stepped back inside the bathroom, pushing his long blond hair over his ear, and said "I wish that Karyn has a strong desire to be more like Sarah McMillan. I wish she will want to be friends with Sarah and Sarah's friends, will go out of her way to dress like Sarah, to talk like Sarah, to act like Sarah, and will try out for cheerleading practice." The stone glowed, granting his wishes.
He nodded and smiled, looking at himself in the mirror, knowing that Sarah was gonna love this.
Karyn looked over at the "popular" table and glared at Sarah. She hated her, more than anything. She had taken her best friend and turned him into a bitch just like her. She just wanted to ... (her glare softened, then changed, becoming a look of fondness) ... she just ... she just wanted to be so much like her. How could she have been so wrong about Sarah? Why was she mad that Sarah took Jon's stone? She was the most popular girl in school, so didn't that make her entitled to have it? It made sense.
Sarah looked over at Karyn and felt uncomfortable with that expression on her face. A moment ago, Karyn was glaring with hate in her eyes, and Sarah got a thrill out of that, but then suddenly, her expression changed. It almost looked like she ... desired her? What the hell just happened?
When Jon returned, Sarah didn't think there was anything strange about him having long blond hair. She didn't hear his wish, so she thought that he had always had long blond hair.
"Jonrah," Sarah whispered. "Did you ... did you use the stone on Karyn?"
"Yeah, isn't it great?" Jon asked. "I made her want to be like you."
"You what?" This would destroy all of her plans. The whole point of making Jon just like her was to torture Karyn. But if Karyn suddenly liked Sarah ...
Maybe she shouldn't have given the stone back. At least, so soon.
"What?" Jon asked, confused by Sarah's reaction. "What's wrong? I thought you'd like it."
