The studying session with Sarah was certainly turning into something Jon hadn't anticipated. Normally when he'd go over to someone's house to study he and whoever was having him over would sit and go over material, work through homework problems, maybe quiz each other on the textbooks. Instead Jon found himself sitting crosslegged on Sarah's carpet, wearing a frilly pink dress, playing with Barbie dolls. Well, he told himself, if it hurried up the session and got Sarah to understand the materials, he'd do just about anything.
Sure, many of the things Sarah had asked Jon seemed to slow down the night, distracting greatly from their task, but the way Jon saw it you had to look at it in the long term. Take when she has asked him to shave all his body hair. At first he had balked at the idea. What gives her the right to ask such a thing? Then, looking at the cheerleader's face he knew that every bit of hair on his body, save the hair on his head, reminded her that he was a guy. Everybody knew that Sarah was boy crazy, so who knew how much of a distraction Jon's own sexuality was to her. If he factored in the fact that his hair wouldn't grow in for quite a while, he was confident that the shave would actually save time, in the long run.
The same thing went with the frilly dress, the breast forms, all the heavy make-up, the nail polish, and the high heels. Each article served the same purpose.
The dolls had been a no-brainer. Jon didn't know much about girls, but from his experience with his sister Zoe and his best friend Karyn, he knew that lots of girls needed distraction while they studied. Karyn always had Facebook open while she worked, while Zoe cranked her music. Sarah, it seemed, liked her Barbie dolls. Jon slipped yet another outfit on the plastic figure, peeking up to see if his efforts were working. He smiled to see Sarah look up and him from her books; by him playing with dolls for her, she could check in with him without having to get too involved in the distraction. It was working!
As he put the Barbie into her dream car and began to drive her over to her date with the Ken doll, Jon's heart filled with pride over his success. With just a few simple actions, he'd made studying with Sarah simple! Sure, it was a little unorthodox, but no wonder Sarah had never excelled in school; nobody had ever put the effort in to really help her understand the material. Now, on the other hand, nothing would hold the cheerleader back. He pictured her GPA going up, scholarships, awards...
"Jon," Sarah whined from her desk.
"Yes mistress?" another one of her requests, very reasonable, as he didn't want her to feel like he was imposing himself. After all, it was her house, shouldn't she be in charge?
"This just isn't working. Can we try something else? I have an idea. Could you..."
