"Now for some real fun," Sarah said, looking down at the stone in her hands. But did she want to have "fun," or did she want to improve this place? She'd always hated the little hick town her parents had decided to stay in, knowing that with the kind of money her family had, they could live almost anywhere. Indeed, she had begged and pleaded with them to move somewhere else, but to no avail. With the rock, she could simply make her parents want to move, but that idea left a bad taste in her mouth. She was no stranger to manipulation but doing it with a wishing rock felt like cheating somehow. Tiffany always talked about how things were her due, but Sarah thought that was, pardon her French, bullshit.

First thing to change is the people. If everyone were just a little more like me, she thought, and gripped the wishing rock tightly in her hand. "I wish the people in this town were more like me." Her eyes suddenly felt like they had something in them, and she rubbed them to clear it. When she opened them again, nothing had changed, and she was a little disappointed. "Oh, well duh," she mumbled. "I wished for the people to change. Where's my drink?"

As if on cue, Jon came in, looking quite a bit different. He had the same face and head, but they curved into a narrow neck, and a very familiar body in an unflattering green dress. A hand identical to hers held a can of Coke, and as he gave it to her, he said, "Here you go. W-wait, what are you doing with that?"

Jon reached for the stone, and Sarah decided to play dumb, keeping it just out of reach. "It's just a rock, what's the big deal?"

He narrowed his eyes. "Don't play dumb, Sarah, I think you know damn well what it is. What have you done already?" he asked, staring at the mirror, looking for something different.

"IwishIwashome!" Sarah blurted out, and was suddenly sitting on her own bed. "Now, I wish Jon would forget I'd been there," she said triumphantly, looking down at her new possession. The wish had backfired but it was alright, she'd just undo it.
