Between classes, Jon made to intercept Karyn bobbing with excitement.
"Karyn! I got an invite to Sarah's party!" Jon said, so excited it was almost hard for her to make out the words.
"Sarah's party? Why would we care about that? We've never cared about her party's before,"
"Well, this one is going to be so awesome!" Jon started to tell Karyn about all of the awesome things that he knew about it, which were really the awesome things that Tiffany knew about it. She wasn't sure if he was that exited, or if this was magically induced. Jon being passionate about things was one of the cute things about him, though.
"Hold on, Jon" she said, interrupting him. "Who told you about all of this? I'm not sure if you're acting normal here."
"Oh, he's acting perfectly normal." A chill voice cut in. They turned to see Sarah. "This party is going to be talked about for years, and everyone who is anyone is going to be there. Which includes inviting people who aren't anyone. That means you, in case you weren't sure." Sarah snapped closed her compact, makeup perfect once again. "Not my idea to make it that open of an invitation, but I'm owning it. The offer is genuine, although I don't really expect you to show up. But if you do, make sure you follow the rules in the invitation. The second-best thing to you not coming is for the bouncer to kick you out." She took a step away from the wall and put an arm over Jon's shoulders.
"No need to RSVP. I don't care and there's plenty. Real quick though, Johnny, I know you're going to be a stick in the mud and not come to the game tonight, even though I lent you a spare outfit, but while you're wearing it, you need to talk up school spirit instead of going on and on about what happened at lunch." She straightened, kissing her fingers. "Here, have a copy." She booped his nose and sauntered off.
Jon and Karyn watched her go, one of them with a lot more anger than the other. They faced each other.
"How do you feel?"
"Fine? Normal? It doesn't feel like when I've gotten things from Tiffany or Reagan. Those were more obvious mental changes."
"huh. Well, why are you wearing a cheerleader outfit?"
"Because I'm excited for the game tonight. Go Blue Foots!" Jon said immediately. He then looked very embarrassed.
"Right. So, she made it that if people talk to you about the uniform, you show some spirit. Great. That could have been worse."
"And it'll probably go away after Spirit week. I mean, after the game. I mean..." Jon bit his lip. He seemed not to be able to indicate that this part of the curse could end when he got home and changed out of the cheerleading outfit and into normal clothes."
"Right. Jon?"
"Yeah?"
"Skipping that party is a win for Sarah. I'm not going to let her win."
"Okay."
Internally, the part of Jon that was copied from Reagan was jumping up and down with excitement.
