“Can we please make it short this year. You know I hate this tradition,” Ben pleaded with his family. Although doing a longer swap was more fun, everyone knew where Ben stood on the tradition. Elma thought about it for a moment and decided to show mercy to her grandson.
“Come on dear, it’s never that bad. Trust me, this year you’ll finally understand the magic. Just for you, how about we swap until the new year. Does that sound good?” Elma said as Ben groaned.
“I’d rather we not even swap to begin with but I guess.” Elma smiled as she continued to shuffle the hat around, making sure that the names were completely random.
“Alright, that settles it. Let’s get the fun started and pick out our bodies for the rest of the year. Kurt, would you care to be the first one to go?” Kurt sat up in his chair and smiled. He always loved being the first to go as he always felt like it gave him the best chances to get a good body. Sure, when you’re in your 70s, most bodies would be considered an upgrade but Kurt had his preferences when it came to swapping.
“Alright dear. Bring the hat over here,” Kurt replied as Elma stood up and walked over to sit next to her husband. Everyone watched in anticipation as the fun was about to begin.
