Sarah was waiting for her in the locker rooms. She was fiddling with her charm bracelet, which had a pair of Ks dangling from it. Certain of that.
“Now that you’ve given Jon something to remember you by, I’ll have you with Tiffany again.”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Karyn said as she changed. Sarah had provided one of her spare cheer shells for her to use. It fit well. Shockingly well, to anyone who didn’t know that Karyn’s breasts had been copied from Sarah by a wish. Other than her shoes which didn’t quite match, she looked like she was part of the squad. Sarah offered her a scrunchie, her own long blonde hair gathered into a ponytail. Reluctantly, Karyn accepted and gathered up her hair.
“You know Karyn,” Sarah said, looking at her charm bracelet. “I’m so impressed how good your legs look in that skirt. You should really show them off more. How do you keep them looking so fine?”
A freeze before Karyn’s reply. “I go swimming a couple times a week. It helps keep me in shape.” And indeed, not only do Karyn’s legs look amazing, but her body has become more toned, and her skin picks up a bit of a tan.
“Well, I’m glad you have time to help us with cheering, instead of being with the swim team all the time."
Karyn rolls her eyes. “I’m not with the swim team. I like swimming on my own, not for any sport.”
“Right, right, of course.” Sarah looks at the single K dangling from her charm bracelet and asks another question as they head out of the lockers. “How excited are you to join me at the new Sephora release tomorrow?”
A freeze again. Karyn had not known there was a Sephora release, if there indeed was one. There was now, at least. But how excited was she to be there with Sarah?
“Well, you’re not my first choice…” Karyn says. “But no one else I know is really into makeup. I’d drag Jon along, but he’d hate it. Plus, his weekends are a bit... busy.”
Someone outside of reality would notice that Karyn was wearing bolder makeup now, where before it had been a subtle endeavor.
“I’ll take it!” Sarah says with a grin. “Can I give you a ride? Your car is a serious travesty.”
“...Sure.”

The rest of cheer practice, and indeed, the evening, went smoothly. Jon and Karyn texted back and forth while doing homework. It was mostly just idle chatter, nothing important. Just being together when they couldn’t be physically. Both of them were avoiding thinking about their relationship. Finally, all of the homework was either done, or done enough, and they said their goodnights.
