Mikey saw the stone in front of her foot, as her brain reeled trying to adapt to all of the new information from her new life and also from aging three years. The change from being a boy at the cusp of puberty into a girl who was heading towards its mid stages was proving to be entirely too much...
...but not disabling enough to prevent her from making another wish. One which was made in great haste and with words she hoped would fix the situation she found herself in.
"I wish everything was normal!"
Mikey's eyes blinked closed, and Michelle's blinked open, her mind fully calm. She had no idea why she was in a bathroom, though she reasoned that it more than likely had to do with nature calling. Michelle picked up the wishing stone and put it securely into her purse, knowing that it was an important thing yet without the memory of why, then pulled her skirt back up to exit the stall and wash her hands.
Michelle took a moment to smile at the reflection in the mirror, then making sure no one was around made a funny face before laughing. To outsiders Michelle might have looked very "punk" but underneath she was a good kid and did her best to not make much trouble. She looked up to Zoe, her big sister, who introduced her to the music of Avril Lavigne and who helped her whenever she felt too embarrassed to go to their Mom. Jon was...okay as a big brother, she guessed, and they got along alright. Michelle loved her Mom and Dad, though lately she didn't admit so as much as when she was little. Her best friend Alexis was practically joined to her hip and they did nearly everything together, any lingering crush killed in the name of a strong friendship love. She was outgoing, sure of herself, and finding her way through femininity, all things she did not wish to change.
Michelle walked out of the bathroom and into a Math class that was for the senior level in her middle school, much different from the class she started her day in. She sat back down and looked at the problems in the textbook in front of her, understanding nearly every one of them. Math wasn't her favourite, she preferred English and looked forward to doing Drama next year in High School, with any lingering immaturity from Mikey being focused into a desire to playfully act out skits.
This new girl was as normal as any other in the class.
But what wasn't normal was the knock on effects her family had to go through to make this new reality possible.
Because in order to make room in reality for the new youngest daughter it meant his siblings needed to go up in age, too. Zoe would now be sixteen and suddenly taking in all of Jon's classes in high school.
While Jon himself now found himself in college.
