Second period went smoothly. Jon glanced around frequently but did his best to make sure that there couldn't possibly be anything he needed or - probably the worse case - that other people could decide for him that he needed. He noticed Karyn flicking a look his way every now and then, too, but otherwise their shared math class was over before they knew it.
Steve gave him a small but friendly punch in the arm on his way out. "Yo, Jon, looking strong as hell, keep it up."
Jon grimaced. "Um, thanks, Steve."
Karyn and Jon walked back to their lockers. "An accidental wish for each of us, and we've slightly become stereotypes," she muttered.
Jon opened his locker without a problem this time, his increased strength making it a simple yank on the first try. "You're not wrong, in more ways than one," he considered. "You've got Sarah's hair and breasts, and I've got Biff's muscles. Actually, we both directly copied them, in different ways."
"I'd rather us both just be us, as always," Karyn looked sad.
He grabbed her arm as she started to close her locker. "Karyn, it doesn't matter how much we look like them. You're incredible and amazing and kind in ways that Sarah can never be. We'll figure this out and get back to normal at some point, but in the meantime, who you are will always stand out more than anything you might have from Sarah."
Karyn stood there, looking at him, a smile slowly creeping onto her face. And then her head darted in and quickly kissed Jon. He stood there, slightly frozen.
"Thank you, Jon," her face was now beaming. "I really appreciate that."
Jon was still slightly stunned. "We've never kissed before."
Karyn's face flushed. "No, I guess we haven't."
Jon stared at her for a second, then darted in himself and kissed her again, holding it for longer. Karyn returned the kiss, her eyes closed.
"Ahem!" They both stumbled apart to see Mr. Woodward, one of the geometry teachers. "Save it for after school and outside, you two. Hurry up and get to class."
"Sorry, sir," Jon stammered. He and Karyn quickly got what they needed out of their lockers. He could feel the doofy grin on his face, and he could see Karyn was still blushing.
"See you at lunch?" she said to him, looking happier than she had in the last 24 hours.
"Absolutely," he smiled back. As they started to part, he casually tossed in her direction, "I guess now we're copying Sarah and Biff's relationship, too, huh?"
Karyn whirled in his direction, glaring but in a friendly way, grinning the entire time. "Don't you DARE ruin this."
He laughed and headed off to chemistry.
