Jon opened his bedroom door, readying himself for anything. But Sarah wasn't there. But, fortunately, the stone was.
He walked over and picked up the stone from beneath his pillow, right where he had left it, feeling relieved. But if the stone hadn't moved from its hiding place, then where did Sarah go? Did she look for the stone, but then when she couldn't find it, just left? That didn't seem like Sarah at all. If she didn't find it, she would have just stayed around until Jon got back and then threatened him to give the stone to her. No, something else was going on. But what?
As Jon's mom (Jane) cleaned up the mess Jon had made, the doorbell rang. She opened the door and saw Karyn waiting outside.
"Hi, Karyn."
"Hi, Mrs. Gibson. Is Jon home?"
"Sure, he's right upstairs."
"Thanks."
As Karyn walked up the stairs, Jane thought about how nice she was. And how lucky his son was to have a friend like that.
Jane sighed and said "I wish ..."
