Karyn looked at her phone, incredulously. "Implementation not granted???"

Jon grimaced. "I was afraid of that."

Karyn threw her hands in the air. "The two of us agreed! The wish clearly stated that if you and I agreed, it would happen. And I watched you approve my pitch. This should have gone through."

"Yeah, that's how it should have gone down." Jon agreed. "But you added the line about Biff at the end. And you didn't specify him joining in as a victim, so I guess he's now on our counsel of wish interpreters." Their phones each beeped with a notification, and Jon tapped his screen. "Oh, yeah, that's Biff."

Karyn made a few indistinct angry sounds as she read the new interpretation.

"grant it by giving her enough time to get food and give me a kiss before class"

"I take it we're voting this down?" Jon asked.

"Of course we're voting against this. Why wouldn't we?"

Jon shrugged. "I don't know. We might need to compromise at some point, maybe. He followed Karyn's lead, hitting the thumbs down. With two votes against and one for, the suggestion faded away. The previous suggestion of Karyn's was still there, though. It seemed that if the majority was against it, the app removed it, but Biff could still change his mind about the one he had voted against. A neat system.

Karyn reached for the wishing stone. "We can fix this. Just a small re-interpretation, should make him on the receiving end. God, I wish this stone would be better about doing what we want."

The stone flashed and Karyn flushed as she realized that she'd again made a wish without meaning it. Jon facepalmed.

"That should have been a good thing, at least?" She asked. "Anyway, I wish that Biff was only having his wishes interpreted and wasn't one of the interpreters."

The stone flashed, which was comforting. Then, a moment later their phones dinged with a notification, which was not. Dreading what he was about to see, Jon opened the app. His heart sunk as he saw the thumbnail of Karyn with the wishing stone, her wish transcribed.

A suggestion appears underneath it that reads "Not granted," with one vote.

And to make things even worse, a notification of a text message appeared at the top of the screen as Jon was looking. It was a text message from Biff.
