Reeling in terror the woman was left a trembling where she stood. I walked over to her. I was level 14. She could do nothing to me now. "We don't have to hurt you. Tell me: who those 3 guys were to you." I said from a yard away. All of this was important for her to understand. "They were my nephews. My younger brother and older sister's children. What did you do to them!?" she sobbed. "You saw what happened to the cops, right? The same thing happened to them. None of them are actually dead. Go check. They just got converted to merfolk. At the cove an hour and a half away along the beach, where we came from, merfolk can gain human legs if the soak in the pools under the light of a full moon. I'd suggest collecting them and hiding them in your home for the next month." I explained. She loved her nephews. The woman began running down the beach. "What are we going to do now?" Nabo asked. "We have to keep going along the beach. Eventually those of us with clothes will have to get clothes for the rest of you to wear." I said. We found a pier with a decent boardwalk.
Since that meant civilization, it was time to give it a try. I took the complaining caregiver by the arms and said "We'll look for human clothes now. You stay here. If humans come, make sure to hide until we get back. We don't want stronger guards chasing and attacking you." They nodded. We went to the boardwalk and tried to see if any shops were open. Nothing was open. It made sense for a small town. That did not mean that we could find the clothes another way. I peeked in all the alleys. That was when I found a couple of people doing a drug deal. That was perfect. I drew my trident. There was no need to talk. Even the dealer having a knife was not enough to stop us. We stole all of their things. When a busybody came to check it out, we stole his pants and shirt by threatening him with our weapons. That left him red underwear and a white t-shirt. That was enough to get our companions dressed. We returned to them with all the loot. Nabo and the others needed help to get the clothes on. I was more than happy to help. Now, it was time to escape their whole region. We were so wanted.
I did not want to get caught. Infinitely fighting law enforcement did not seem fun to me. No one knew us and it was dark out due to it being nighttime. We could just walk through town and find a way to get out of here. I was willing to try that option. We just walked through. Someone stopped us. "Where the hell are you going!? None of you have shoes." the young woman said. "It's been a disaster. Do you know if there is a bus or something that runs this late. We just want to get out of here." I said. "Not until morning. The bus stop is a few blocks that way." she said as she pointed to the direction we could find it. That was good to know. We walked where she had told us, and it was there. I looked at the schedule. It was not going to get here for another 6 hours. It was 2 o'clock. I looked at my 3 tribesmen. "We were supposed to chose names after the trials. We completed them, so we all deserve to pick something before we start our new lives." I said. They had no clue. I called myself David. It was just simple to do so. The brat was named Wyne. The warriors were now Steele and Dennis for lols.
