Keeping them off balance was our job. Knox on his own was enough to beat them up. That was not enough for us though. We tagged back and forth to make sure they were not in good condition. In fact, we beat them so damn badly, Oliver suffered a minor injury to his leg. Adam had a head injury. That would give both Rex and Jax easy targets to go for during the title defense. While I was on the apron, a wrestler attacked me from behind. He swiped my feet and make me knock my head on the ring apron. The apron was the hardest part of the ring because it had the least amount of padding. I was easily stunned. The wrestler tried to pin me, but I easily kicked out. It was not going to be that easy to take the title off of me. There was hardly any damage done to me. I gave him a kick to the jaw and began pummeling him at ringside. As the 24/7 champion, I defended the title anytime and anywhere a ref and opponent were. As long as he did not attack anyone else, the match could still go on. Knox did not need me to finish them off when they were both that damaged. It was too easy.
I watched as he tackled Oliver off the apron so he could not save his partner in the ring. Knox then hit his finisher on Adam to get the win. With that out the way, there was no real reason to stay there. We beat the intruder up some more to send a big message and then went backstage. Because the tag titles had always been planned to be defended, the #1 contenders were left in the lurch. Jax and Rex faced the members of that team in singles competition. If they lost, it would have some implications on the title defense. Both brothers defeated their opponents convincingly. They were good wrestlers. Both members of Police Box were here to stay in the Boom tag team division. Once they were done, we left the arena. No one else tried to attack me with Knox around. At the beginning of the PPV, the Picric general manager came to see me. It was televised. He told me that I could not hide from appearing on Picric since the 24/7 championship was an open league title. That meant that I would be at the arena both on Mondays and Wednesdays. That was fine with me. More money.
Jumping up from Boom to the main show was not supposed to be hard. You just had to win and then defend a belt 3 times. Since I was 24/7 champion, it was measured by how long I had it. This was a week and a half. I had it through all of last week's shows and now here at the PPV if I could keep it. Both Jax and Rex had their first tag title defense to get ready for. That meant they could join me if they defended the belt at least twice more after this. I was not going to abandon Boom so soon though. It would take time for the titles to be defended naturally. Wrestlers had to jockey for the position in both promos and matches. Jax and Rex could be waiting for a while to get some new challengers for the titles. Knox did not have a title. He would be stuck here alone on Boom unless he could get his hands on a title and defend it 3 times. I was not willing to leave Knox. Besides, this was an easy placement for me. I wanted to be a good wrestler. I had the opportunity to have a great run in OPW. Stacking up wins here would look great on my resume. I could be a Hall of Famer if I wanted it.
