Samus had been tracking down a stolen chozo artifact for a few weeks now. It was found by the federation and somehow through a complicated heist someone had stolen it and managed to leave very few breadcrumbs to follow. However through some investigations and some tidbits from underworld contacts she found that the thieves seem to be bringing it to a convention. A cosplay convention to be exact, a place everyone needed to be in cosplay to be even let into the door.
She contact the federation with this information and got back to her that she needed to infiltrate this convention, however she needed to keep a low profile so that she doesn’t spook them. That means she can’t go as herself since the real deal chozo suit, even compared to a talented armor cosplayer would be obvious it was too real. There was also the fact that this was a high end cosplay requirement, so an amateur costume would not allow her to be admitted.
The plan was the federation would commission in secret a cosplay maker to make a high quality cosplay for Samus to infiltrate the convention and search for her targets.
