"I think I'll be kind," Sarah said, with a big smile. "The first person will be Biff." Biff Meadows was Sarah's boyfriend. He was also the captain of the high school football team and one of the most popular guys at school. Sarah only dated the best. But his buddies were all meatheads.
At a local gym where he works out, Biff was lifting weights. He always wanted to make sure that he was in top condition, for both football and other "activities". Girls just loved him. And why not? He had the perfect body. Strong and sexy. His two favorite words.
He stood up from the bench and grabbed a towel. He was sweating quite a bit. That's when a couple of his friends came in - Mike "The Moose" Matthews and Randy Goodman.
"Hey, Biff," Randy said. "You still coming to my party after the game on Friday?"
"Are you kidding me? Of course. And don't worry. Sarah's coming too."
They all smiled. Sarah was the hottest girl in school. Sure, she could be a bitch sometimes, but that didn't stop nearly every guy in school from fantasizing about getting into her pants.
"You know," Biff said. "I wish every girl in school was just like Sarah."
"I hear you there," Mike said, leering.
As Biff made his wish, Sarah saw the stone glowing. She smiled, knowing that the first "wish chain" wish had been granted.
Even though the "wish chain" worked independently of the stone, it still needed energy to function and it extracted it from the stone, which was why the stone glowed whenever a "wish chain" wish was granted.
Downstairs in the kitchen, Jon was getting something to drink for Sarah. Why was she even there? Yes, she said she needed help for history class. But they've had tough tests for history all year. Why did she pick now to get help from him? The only reason he could come up with was that she needed to get in his house. But why would she ...
Jon's eyes went wide and he dropped the glass he was pouring a drink into. It shattered on the floor with a crash. It must have been the stone she was after. And he left her alone in his room!
"Jon! What was that?" his mom yelled, from the living room.
"Shit," Jon said. "I wish I never allowed Sarah to come in." He looked down at the mess he made, as his mom ran into the room in a panic.
"Sorry. I accidentally dropped it," Jon said.
"What were you doing down here anyway?" she asked, getting paper towels to clean up the mess.
"I was getting a drink for Sarah."
"I thought she was here to study."
"Uh ... she is. Listen, I've got to ... um ... check on something," Jon said, moving quickly past his mom and out of the room. As he walked upstairs, he dreaded what he would find in his bedroom. In his mind, he pictured Sarah holding the stone and grinning. Maybe Jon was psychic, because that's exactly what he found when he entered his room.
