Edward knocked on his daughter's door, but she didn't answer it. "Karyn? Honey, open the door. I want to ask you something." He waited a few seconds. "Karyn?" He opened the door and walked inside.
At first he thought he entered the wrong room, but this was Karyn's bedroom. It's just that all the furniture was gone. In fact, it almost looked like a storage room.
Panicking, he rushed back into the master bedroom, just as his wife was coming out of the bathroom.
"Beth, Karyn's gone and her room is ..." He stopped in mid-sentence, when he saw that the person coming out of the bathroom wasn't his wife, but rather a man. But not just any man. This one had breasts, just like Edward. "Who are you?"
"Oh, Edward, stop playing around."
"Who are you?" Edward demanded.
"Edward, you're scaring me."
"Answer my question!"
"I'm your husband! Ben! Now what's all this about?"
Edward collapsed on the bed. Was he going insane? What happened to his wife? What happened to his daughter? It was like he was in some sort of Twilight Zone episode.
He looked at the man and noticed something about him. He resembled his wife. Beth didn't have any brothers, but if she did, this man could be one of them. Was it possible that his wife got turned into a man? It seemed completely ridiculous. But what other explanation was there?
His head fell into his hands, as he grieved over what had happened. He had lost both his wife and his daughter and he had no idea how to bring them back.
"Oh, I wish ..."
