Smiling, Zoe said "I wish you thought and acted just like me." Suddenly, the smile fell from Zoe's face, as she looked at her mother's appearance. She was clearly disturbed by her mom's choice in clothing. And were those piercings? It was such a disappointment that her mother turned out this way.
"Mother," Zoe said. "Why can't you shape up and dress your age?"
Her mom looked oddly at her. "Zoe, why are you talking like that? You almost sound like ... me."
As it turned out, she was, since her second wish was granted to her mother. Now Zoe would always think and act just like her mother. Which meant that soon, she'd stop being a Goth.
Jon put the stone in his pocket and walked downstairs. On his way out, he glanced at his mom and his sister. He must have belonged to the only family on the planet in which two family members were Goths. He shook his head. Why me? he thought.
