Now that it was a clash between us, he was actually pretty good. He was a former adventurer after all. We went back and forth. Both of us were down to critical health. It was a really close fight. The crowd was going insane. As I caught my breath Vel glared at me. "Why the hell are we out here? We could have been done by now." he growled. Something had to give. Vel's blade slashed towards me in a low arc. I side stepped him and kneed him in the gut. He fell to his knees. I punched him in the face to knock him out. I turned around to see the Cassius and one of the enemy slaves were down. Caelus and the other gladiator slave were still fist fighting. I walked my way over to them. There was nothing that I needed to hurry for. Caelus lost the fistfight. The slave celebrated their win, but then turned and saw me. I just punched him in the jaw. He went down with that single punch. This meant I was the last man standing here. The crowd went wild. The governor saw it all. Since I was the true winner, my team was applauded. Cassius and Caelus were not awake for it all. That was all fine.

It was then up to the governor to see what would happen to the losers. "What should be done with the losers here?" the governor asked the crowd. Everyone was silent. I could see why. They were known to be very bloodthirsty and sadistic. I also knew that Vel Leon was a local hero and a citizen. They would not want to lose him. The governor could tell the concerns of the people were keeping them quiet. "Will we grant clemency to the losers of this fight?" he asked again. "Spare them!" some man in the crowd said. It was all that was needed. Everyone began to chant it. Then they began to scream it. The governor pardoned them all. That was actually the first time in the game that a gladiator slave was pardoned in this arena by a governor. It was all the buzz in the city going forward. Even outlying settlements in the province heard all about it. The next the day, I went to the pits. I told them that I wanted to buy Cassius and Caelus as slaves. The booker and slave-keeper had nothing against it. They won 6 matches. That made the prices for them go through the roof. I still paid for it all.

Obviously, now that I had them, it was time to get them out from their cells. "It's David! Did you bring some meat for us!?" Caelus called out as I approached. Cassius just scoffed out loud. "No way! He's brought the sweet rolls we asked for. The one with the cream on top." he said confidently. Cassius had a sweet tooth. Smiling, I said "I've got something much better." They both looked at me expectantly. "I bought you guys today! You're getting out of here. I have the paperwork right here." I said excitedly. I was pretty happy. They just blinked at me. Neither of them seemed to care much about it. It took the wind out of my sails. Sighing, I gestured to the slave-keeper. He got them out of the cells. All of their property had been taken. All they had were the shirts on their backs. I, as their new master, was to provide them with their food and their clothes. Since they were gladiator slaves, I would also be on the hook for their weapons and armor. That was true. I took them straight to the item and weapon shop. The twins got to choose what they wanted. Both got tridents, nets and shields to fight with.
