Switched Stones and More

The shadowy figure ever so carefully took the stone and quietly made his wish. The mysterious intruder was looking to cause some trouble in this town and Jon's stone was the perfect way to do it. His intention was to replace Jon's stone with one that he just wished up, but his wish also created many other stones, none that could change reality, of course, but ones that would ensure a great deal of chaos. He would give these other stones to random people in town. Satisfied, he put the replacement stone in the place he had found Jon's stone, then left as stealthily as he had arrived. The stone seemed very similar to the wishing stone that Jon had inherited, but it wasn't. Something, like all the others that the shadowy figure had wished up, was wrong with it. But what? And who else in town received a defective stone?
