Kevin Williams returned to his car. Only to see that there was a rock lying in the driver's seat. It was just like the rock in his dream, as if he had either left it in the car or dropped it there by mistake.
He knew very well it wasn't there when he had left, and there was no possible way this could be a trick--nobody could have planted the stone there because they didn't know what he had dreamed. Besides, the car door was still locked.
Kevin picked up the stone and prepared to make a test wish. Then it occurred to him: the wish chain was still going. The next wish he made would be granted to another person as if they had made it. Then the other person gets a wish, then a wish to be granted to another person, etc.
If he made a wish on the stone to test it, would it also count as a wish granted to the other person?
He didn't know. And he didn't want to find out. If he wanted to use the stone safely, and not have the wish count as a chain wish and a stone wish at the same time, he'd have to waste the chain wish. Well, the nearest person should be Jon, inside Sarah's house where he had been transformed into a near double of Sarah. So Kevin prepared to make the chain wish that would be granted to Jon.
Meanwhile, Jon's wish had zapped Sarah out of the house. This changed reality, so Sarah had not run home. Instead she had stayed around to talk with Tiffany and Biff, and all three of them were just coming to Sarah's home now.
Kevin pocketed the stone and stated his chain wish, which he hoped would be granted to Jon--but there were three other people approaching and it could be granted to any of them instead....
