Apparently, it had no bearing on how long it would take to hatch once laid. That would still be 9 in-game weeks. The difference was that each day granted the child a 1% bonus to exp. gain. That made it easier to level it up. Marcel's egg would have granted a 7% bonus to its exp. It would be better.
