It did not matter to Chester who the Key was. It honestly did not even matter to him what color it would be. He just wanted to test out his theory and get stronger. When a text on his phone came, he looked at it. Matt thought that he might cut school to hang out with him. Since he did not know about his upgrade, he would think that Chester would be in a bad mood. Chester was back to his normal self. The allure of skipping school and hanging out in the city was high. He texted back "Sure. Let's go watch a movie downtown." Matt responded to his message right away. "Cool. Come by my house and we'll go." he wrote. Chester smiled and got ready to go. That involved taking another shower, getting dressed and speaking to his mother. She was happy to see how perky he was. Chester was no longer depressed and upset. "Looks like a good night's sleep fixed everything, huh!?" she pointed out. He pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her. "Yep. I just needed to have a great dream to get my mind right. I feel much better." She simply pat Chester on the shoulder and wished him a nice day.
As Chester left his house, he walked down the street to get to Matt's house. He did not have a car or bike. When he got to the house, Matt was just leaving. He probably was already ready. His room faced the street. Matt could see Chester coming. They walked down the street together in the direction of their school. It was not their true destination. That was done to throw off Matt's parents. Both of them knew that it did not matter. The school would just call them later when they realized neither of them showed up. That would be hours from now though. It would get caught by the answering machine. Sometimes, Matt could get home first and delete the message. Other times, he had no such luck. He was hoping that they would be back in time to beat his parents. Matt looked at his friend. "What movie did you want to see?" he asked. He was concerned about Chester's well-being. Chester just shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know what movies are out right now. What's a good one?" he asked. Matt took a moment to think about it. "Let us just see which ones are playing when we get there."
Being that they have a great friendship, the theater lobby was enough to come to a decision together. They were going to go for the superhero movie. It was a very good movie. Now that they were in the theater, it was time to go into another movie. Things were great for them. Matt bought the tickets. Chester was the one that bought the popcorn and hotdogs. He insisted. Chester had the money. Paying for things was important for Chester. He was a person who loved how generous and kind Matt was. In no small way, Matt had saved his life. Friendship was important. Reciprocating was even more for Chester because of it. He did not want to be thrown away. He never wanted Matt to think he was a burden. If Matt was going to go out of his way to take care of him, the least he could do was pay for lunch. He had money. Kyle had left the money that the john had paid him. It was the perfect use for the dirty money. He could also spend it on his mother and Yolanda. He would enjoy all that. After their second film, they decided to cut the loses. Outside, they were thinking about what to do next.
Calling out to them, both boys looked to where the voice was coming from. Kyle was waiting in the alley. He had a motorcycle. The boy looked upset. It was as if the boys having a good time at the movies was burdening him. As it was not on Chester or Matt to please him, they just looked back at him. He scowled and came over. Chester had not told Matt that it was Kyle who raped him. "What the hell do you want?" Chester asked. Kyle rolled his eyes and said "I want to know why you are here and not at school?" he asked. "Aren't you not at school yourself?" Matt shot back. Kyle simply crossed his arms. "I wanted to make sure that Chester was fine. I heard that things were not going well for him." he said. Matt blinked at him. "What the fuck have you heard about that!?" he yelled. Matt was not an idiot. Kyle held him up his hands. There was no way to get him off of that track. "Do you know who did it to Chester!?" Kyle looked from him to Chester. "I'm part of a group of Marked people. We make sure that nothing happens. I'm here to keep an eye on Chester. He's a Lock. Everyone saw it."
