Zoe looked through her closet, desperate to find something that belonged to her, but there was nothing there. Just a bunch of T-shirts and jeans. Now, quite a few of the shirts were black or dark gray, but they certainly weren't gothic.
She sat on her bed, which now had light blue sheets instead of black ones, and tried to wrap her brain around what had happened. Her friend Athena was more into the occult than she was, but even so, she knew what magic was when she saw it. And this was some pretty powerful magic.
But the question was: Who was wielding it?
"Karyn, I know this really sounds strange, but the wishing stone is real. You even used it on yourself. How do you think you got your blond hair and big boobs?"
"Uh, Jon. I've always been that way, at least for last few years or so."
She forgot about the stone, so now she thought her enhancements were normal.
How was he going to explain all of this to her? Without the stone to show her, he sounded crazy. But then, he thought, why did he even need to convince her? If he just looked for the stone himself, he could just make a wish when he found it and get Karyn's memory back.
"Listen," Jon said. "Forget it. I ... I can deal with this myself." Then he left. But where should he look for the stone first?
