The Fucked Generation
In the not so distant future the rich and powerful have taken over the entire world. Things like democracy and human rights are talked about but not so often honored. Information is censored and propaganda rules. The government has taken over all of the world's scientific institutes and uses science more as a weapon to control the masses. The younger generations are too brainwashed to realize how things could be better and instead chug along voting against their own interests and working for the 1% as their quality of life gets worse and their jobs get harder. Things like vaccines in young people are a thing of the past leading to most people over the age of 40 dying with the exception of the very wealthy. With the low quality of life and the lack of vaccines many young people have died as well and the birth rate outside of the 1% had dropped very much, but this too works in favor of the rich as they only need a few workers to run their AI powered factories.
The only outstanding issue is the left over millennial generation. They were a bit too young to die off in the various pandemics that could have been avoided if not for the lack of vaccines and health care, and a bit too old to be foolish enough to be satisfied with the status quo. Most of the surviving women of this generation started to marry older men over the years as well since men their age just couldn’t offer them much of a life. This has led to a great deal of resentment for people of a certain age on both sides. Recently as the next wave of wage slaves is coming of age many millennials have been laid off in favor of new more obedient younger workers.
Because of this situation the 1% has taken advantage of this generation with not many options left. A medical company responsible for the long healthy lives of the 1% is able to change a person's body using nanobots injected into a person’s blood, and every aspect of their appearance with the only limit being how much it can change a person's age. The nanobots have the ability to add or remove about 20 years from a person and then maintain that age indefinitely. It also regulates a person’s health and keeps them from ever getting sick. There is also the ability for it to affect a person’s behavior but that isn’t something really known outside of the 1%. This company has created a new trend where younger people who don’t have many options can sign a contract to undergo a process and become the wife of an older wealthier man. Though very few of the ones who signed up to be one of these ‘welfare wifes’ as they had been nicknamed really understood just what they were agreeing to.
There have also been rumors of this system being used in legal and corporate settings, but its not something well known by the public.
