Without thinking, still trying to figure out the implications of his official gender change at school, Leslie answered the phone.
"Leslie? Is that you? you sound weird". It was Samantha.
"Yeah, I'm not feeling very well" replied Leslie, speaking in a whisper, trying to lower the tone of his voice. Luckily, it appeared to have worked.
"Whatever. Have you tried looking for my medallion? It's really important and you're just ignoring me"
"Sorry, but I'm sick, today was my first day at school, and I've been busy settling down to my new place... besides, it's only a medallion, it's not a life or death situation"
"Leslie, you have no idea what... you know what? Forget about it, just help me out when you get home, please. It's very important for me."
After a moment of silence, Leslie yielded. "Ok, I'll look for it. Do you have a photo or something? How am I supposed to find this thing?"
"I don't know... Metallic? I guess? Mom says she thinks it could've dropped into your sleeping bag that night." said Samantha.
Leslie sighed into the phone and it sounded too feminine... Before he could say anything, Samantha replied.
"Holy shit, you really sound sick... You're losing your voice, Leslie... That sigh sounded awful. Just... look for it, will ya? And if you find it, don't touch it! It's important!"
With that, she hung up. "Spoiled brat..." thought Leslie.
"What will I do now? Should I go to the student registry to try to fix it back to male or should I just go with it? That women in tech meetup sounds good to get to meet Stacy better, maybe even other women like her... But what will I do when I go back to my old self? Or worse... what if I never go back?"
Pushing that last thought away, he started his car and drove home.
