"What's that?" Jon asked, watching as Karyn taped a sheet of paper up on the wall.
"It's a flier. I'm trying to drum up support for a group trip out-of-state to attend a Republican rally that Sarah Palin will speaking at."
"Oh," Jon said, obviously not that interested.
Karyn glared at him out of the corner of her eye and was about to say something about his obvious backwards views when it came to American politics, but before she could say anything, someone else spoke up.
"Hey, Karyn," the girl said. Karyn turned and was pleased to see Nadine Ferguson. She remembered disliking the girl before, but now liking that they had so much in common. True, Nadine wasn't much into politics, but she was a devout conservative and Baptist, as were her two friends Tina Shepard and Paul Anderson.
"Hello, Nadine," Karyn said, smiling.
Jon used this opportunity to sneak away. He wanted to stay friends with Karyn. He really did. But the more he saw of the new Karyn, the less he saw of his original friend. Now she was hanging out with that Bible-thumper Nadine? They were acting like best friends! He needed to find Sarah and get the stone back. He needed to get Karyn back to normal. He just couldn't leave her like this!
