Jon blinked. Did ... did something happen?
He paused and looked around the emptying schoolyard, feeling a bit disoriented, for some reason. He felt like he had just escaped from ... somewhere. Somewhere bad? He shook his head, trying to dismiss the strange feelings, when suddenly he spotted Sarah McMillan. She was hiding behind a bunch of shrubs. But not doing a very good job of it, since he could easily spot her. Was she spying on him? His heart skipped a beat, realizing that she might have witnessed Karyn and him using the stone. Karyn suddenly having larger breasts and blond hair probably grabbed her attention enough for her to keep an eye on him. She might have even been planning to steal it from him.
Jon took the stone out of his pocket, intending on making a wish to make Sarah forget what she saw, but when he took it out, he noticed that it looked different. It was a bright red color. What the hell? When did it start looking like that? When he showed it to Karyn just a few minutes ago, it looked slightly metallic with a reddish hue. But now it was completely red.
What Jon didn't know was that this was the Republican Stone and that it came from another reality that no longer existed (thanks to a prisoner named Willard Romney), where he was married to Vice President Sarah Palin, who was actually Karyn. Any wish made with it would be twisted so that the outcome would have something to do with Republicans. And since the stone was malfunctioning, the rules in his grandfather's letter no longer applied. Romney was able to return the world to how it was, thus "restarting" time, but he was not able to return the stone to how it was. Something about his wish needed to remain Republican, so that something ended up being the stone itself. He just hoped that whoever used the stone would be wise enough to not let things get out of hand again.
But, of course, history tended to repeat itself.
Jon held the stone and shrugged. Then he made a wish.
