Madison 'Madi' Jones spent a few moments fixing her hair while Miranda fussed about her 'gracelessness' in between tears. Such an odd girl.
No time to dwell on her victory, the second round of five started up. This time her opponent was Nadine Ferguson, who had a reputation as a religious prude. Madi had never really talked to the girl, but if she had she'd have learned that her reputation had been manufactured by her controlling mother to protect her from the rabble.
Nadine was a true believer, but her lack of friends had very little to do with that. In fact, her faith felt bolstered today for some reason, as her haircut regressed into a shaved bare head to signify her rejection of worldly vanity. Her mother had moved her here from their farm in Ethiopia to keep her troublesome generosity from meddling with the family finances. She became less familiar with people and more familiar with scriptures and rituals, who in her heart were becoming her true friends.
Madi was having a hard time reading her opponent, she seemed so emotionally distant and far away that it was honestly a little harrowing. It was like Neyana's mind was doing something entirely unrelated to sparring. She remembered her own mother's religious shrines back when she lived with her, feeling a bit guilty as she dodged another strike.
Suddenly, Neyana fell over entirely, instantly disqualifying her but worrying Madi severely.
"Are you... Do you need the nurse?" Madi sputtered out, still a little shook by the strange experience as her gym uniform got personalized with the striking colors of a flowery desi wedding.
"Hmmm? Where am I?" Neyana had a bit of a reputation for sleepwalking, and had apparently been asleep all period fighting dreams. She rescued she saved a beautiful Indian woman from a blue monster made out of stone. She probably would've been regarded as an oracle in her home country, but here she was just... Odd.
