Sarah being a lot smarter than she let others think makes several quick wishes.
"I wish that Jon and Karyn forget all about the wishing stone having any magical powers."
"I further wish that they believe that the stone Jon received from his grandfather was just a family heirloom."
"I wish that a non-magical copy of the wishing stone was under Jon's pillow."
She then quickly placed the wishing stone into her purse before Jon returned with her drink.
When Jon returned he found that Sarah had her history book out reviewing it.
Jon was surprised that Sarah seemed to me serious about tomorrows test, so much so that he blurted out the first thing that he thought.
"Damn, you were serious about studying; I thought you were going to waste my entire evening."
Sarah, hearing the condescending tone of Jon's voice, quickly decides to use this as a reason to leave and gets up in a huff.
She walks over to Jon, grabbing the drink from his hand and throws it into his face.
"Damn you are just like all the other boys at school! You think the only thing I'm good for is sex. Well, the hell with you then, I'm leaving!"
She then picked up her book and purse and stormed out of the room past a startled Jon.
After Sarah storms past Jon's deeply embarrassed mother, who had heard the entire conversation, she walks down the stairs and out the front door.
She started to smile as soon as she slammed the door behind her for two reasons.
First, she had the wishing stone and secondly, she could hear Jon's mother giving him the riot act for being so rude to a quest.
This was a good day, a very good day to be Sarah McMillian.
After Sarah reached her home and closed the door to her room she reached into her purse and pulled out the wishing stone.
She started thinking about what she wanted most with her new power.
It was not money; she had that, what she wanted most was to play with the lives of those around her.
So, she thought that Jon and Karyn would be the perfect test subjects to begin with.
