“So you're Ken now. My hot, cute boyfriend,” Jen had said with that big grin, practically bouncing beside him as they walked towards the theater.
Ken had blushed so hard he thought his new guy face might actually explode. But hey, she wasn't wrong. He was Ken now. Taller, broader shoulders, a jawline you could slice bread with, and yeah — a guy. And Jen? Jen was gorgeous. No, not just “pretty”. Like, distractingly fit, skinny in the right places, curvy in the others, smooth red lips, and legs that went on for miles under that cute skater skirt she somehow still managed to look nerdy in. And Ken couldn’t help but feel a tiny twinge of jealousy.
Like, come on. How did Jon become Jen and end up looking like that?
“Still a nerd,” Jen had teased, holding up her phone with a digital ticket for MegaTeam Force 7: Multiverse Clash. “Even if I look like I should be the lead cheerleader.”
Ken chuckled. “Yeah, well, even if you’re a literal bombshell now, you still made us late ‘cause you wanted to rewatch the last two movies in bed.”
Jen just winked. “Priorities.”
They reached the theater and that’s when it hit Ken — he was the one ordering the tickets, paying for them, and even getting the popcorn and drinks. Which was... actually kinda awesome?
He felt weirdly cool holding the tray in one hand and Jen’s small, soft hand in the other. Not awkward, like when he was a girl and didn’t know what to do on dates. Now it was like, he was in charge. He got the tickets. He led them to their seats. He even opened the stupid soda lid for her when it got stuck and she made a cute noise like “rrgghh help, Ken-man!” and grinned up at him.
She’d even pecked him on the lips while they walked through the lobby — quick, casual, playful. But it froze him for a second. His first kiss as a guy.
And holy crap it felt great.
They sat down. Ten minutes into the movie, Jen leaned against him and Ken, not even thinking, wrapped his arm around her. She murmured something like “mm comfy” and that was it — they just stayed like that, curled up, sneaking kisses during the slow parts, their popcorn getting colder by the minute.
And honestly?
Ken was loving it.
Being a guy had its perks. No bra. No pinching straps. No cramps. No worrying about that weird button on jeans digging into your belly. Even peeing? Urinals were weirdly satisfying. Like, he had aim. It was like discovering a superpower in the bathroom. He’d stared a little longer than he should’ve, inspecting his boy parts out of sheer curiosity. Yeah. Very different.
By the end of the movie, they were both grinning like idiots. Jen grabbed his arm as they walked out, swinging it a little.
“That was amazing,” she said, her hair bouncing around her face, “We should totally stay like this.”
Ken blinked. “You mean, like… permanently?”
Jen leaned in, smiling up at him. “Maybe. I mean… tonight was fun. Thanks, my man. My boyfriend.”
Ken’s face burned, but he grinned back. “Yeah… it really was. Let’s see where this goes.”
They’d reached her house. Jen stopped on the path and turned to face him, eyes shining in the porch light. “Goodnight, Ken.”
Then she hugged him. Like, really hugged him. Then kissed him on the lips again — soft, sweet, warm.
And with a final happy bounce, Jen turned and skipped up the steps, her keys jingling as she unlocked the door and disappeared inside.
Ken just stood there for a second, heart pounding, head spinning, lips still tingling.
“…Holy crap,” he muttered, smiling stupidly as he turned and started the walk home.
His life had definitely changed. And honestly? He couldn’t wait to see what happened next.
