Jon made haste to Karyn's house, though he always found it tricky to run in his stilettos. He settled into a steadier gait of rapid, small steps that helped him maintain his balance while still moving at a fair pace. Still, Sarah was nowhere to be seen. Just how large a head start had she got?
"Oh Allen, what luck!" Jon called out to his boyfriend, who just happened to be on the sidewalk ahead of him.
"What is it, Jon honey?" Alan said as he approached.
"Sarah McMillan stole... something really important from me!" Jon looked up into the eyes of his 5'7" lover. He'd not told Alan about the stone, and wasn't particularly looking forward to that conversation, but right now he would need all the help he could get.
"Then let's go get it back," Alan replied, punctuating a reassuring pat on the butt. Jon smiled.
"Have you seen her run by?"
"Yeah, a few minutes ago," Alan said. "She was muttering something, I couldn't hear it. She was in a real hurry too."
"Which way did she go?"
"I think she was headed back to her place, hon."
"Okay, let's go," Jon nodded with determination. "We need to pick up Karyn on the way too."
"I'm right behind you, sexy."
Jon giggled. He loved it when Alan called him sexy.
