Jessica, who hadn’t even taken time to explore her new body, decided to spring into action right away.
“I wish Jennifer were here!” She said, but nothing happened. She guessed what Jennifer had said was true, she couldn’t wish anything directly aimed at her, but she could wish for other people or objects to affect Jennifer. She couldn’t be thorough enough to take measures against that, could she?
She knew for a fact she couldn’t wish anything that would make her “not” Jessica, at least for 2 years. Just thinking about the timeline made something click in her mind.
“I wish the 2 year restriction Jennifer wished for me, preventing me from wishing whatever I want regarding myself, would end now!”
Immediately, a white light enveloped her. Opening her eyes, she could see she was no longer holding the stone. “What just happened?”
A familiar voice, from someone who just came into Jessica’s awareness, said “welcome back, little sis!” It was Jennifer.
“What did you do? Why are you here? I thought you had left? Why did you take my stone from me again?” Jessica said, panicking. Was Jennifer now like an omnipotent being?
“I didn’t do anything, at least not to you. Your wish simply made you jump in time, 2 years into the future. It was kind of a pain for me actually, it took some time to figure out what had made my dear sister disappear, mom and the rest were so sad. We feared the worst.” Jennifer said in mocking tones.
“But don’t worry, I wished for everyone else but me to ignore your absence and carry on. Now they’ll recognize you and act like you were never gone.
“I must say though, I’m disappointed. Honestly, if you didn’t have my old body, my old life, I wouldn’t care, but I feel an obligation to my little sister. You’re acting so impulsively, so stupidly. You had a magical stone that could grant any wishes, rewriting reality itself, and here you are, having lost 2 years of your precious youth.
“Now let’s go, you and the family don’t live here anymore and the current owners should be back soon. I don’t want to have to wish their memories away.”
Just then, Jessica really looked at her surroundings. It was the same house, but it clearly wasn’t her home. Her brain was still processing what had happened as she followed Jennifer outside.
