John looked down to see a pale set of B-cup breasts and wisps of brunette hair invading his vision. He quickly hoped from his bed and turned in the direction that would have been his bedroom door but was instead a twin sized bed containing a very confused college co-ed?
"You alright Liz?" The woman asked half-asleep, having just been startled by her roommate literally jumping our of her bed next to her.
"Liz... yeah... Sorry! I'm alright! Wow, I think I just woke up from the middle of a nightmare." John was panicking. He didn't know who or where he was, and a quick scan of his surroundings didn't provide many clues. As a high schooler, he wasn't familiar with a college dorm room, let alone a dorm room a few states away at his old babysitter's college. After taking a few seconds to collect himself, he noticed a purse laying over one of his bedposts and he started to rummage through it for hints at who and where he was.
"You going to that party tonight with Jake?" John's new roommate asked. John absentmindedly responded that he might, but his full attention was on the contents of his new purse. Tylenol, a few tampons, and a WALLET. John quickly threw it open and inspected his new driver's license. Elizabeth Carter, 21, female, from Rhode Island.
"Carter... Carter..." John whispered to himself. The name seemed familiar, but he couldn't place it.
"I'm sick of that guy" his roommate responded, half asleep.
"What?" John realized that he wasn't paying attention to their conversation on account of his weird situation.
"I said I'm sick of that guy, Jake. Come on girl, we both know he only likes you for your looks and he is as dumb as a bag of rocks. You can do so much better. Why not see if you can hit it up with Markus! He's hot and totally into you. I'd even consider James. He's nerdy, sure, but I think he's super funny. I don't know about you but I'd rather date a nice guy with a good sense of humor and decent looks than a hunk that only thinks about working out."
John was so bewildered by the conversation and its implications that he couldn’t form a response. As he tried to fight through his basic male instincts to discuss what kind of guy he should be dating, the name Elizabeth Carter finally came to him.
"Did you know I used to babysit my neighbor's son?" John asked as he stared at his new license.
"Maybe? What does that matter? Seriously Liz, are you okay? You're acting incredibly weird!" Just then the roommate pulled herself up and looked at John with a face of pure panic. "Did Jake fucking drug you at the party last night! I knew that guy was bad. You look so fucked up right now, girl, I'm so sorry! Please get over here and talk with me!"
What? John had no idea what was going on but he had a sense he was on the border of convincing this random girl that he had been raped by a guy he never met, or at least something along those lines. Mustering his best impression of Elizabeth, John sat on his new bed in a comfortable position and forced a smile. "Come on, you're being absolutely ridiculous right now. As far as I know, nobody drugged me. I just woke up from the weirdest nightmare and was genuinely confused about where I was for a second." His roommate let out a sigh of relief. "Maybe you're right about Jake but I think he is better than you are letting on. You never know, maybe I'll check out some other guys but I want to keep everything normal for the time being."
It sounded like John was talking about his interest in guys but he truly meant that he wanted to keep Elizabeths life in order while he tried to figure out a way to swap back and set everything straight.
