Megan awoke the next morning just before 9. She had been tossing and turning all night, both overheated and exhausted from all the drama the night before. In her pajamas, she stumbled out to the kitchen to find Nick already sitting there, with a cup of coffee and a newspaper.
"Mornin'" he said, rather chipperly.
"Good morning," she grumbled in reply.
"Sleep well?" he sipped his coffe.
"Not at all. You?"
"Best sleep of my life," he grinned. "Katie's already gone."
"About last night," she began,
He interrupted, "it's no big deal. Listen, I understand that what we've been through over the past few years, it's obviously changed our relationship. I was really just, I think, reaching out to the nearest person."
"I'm okay with the thought of you being a man again. I'm actually sorry I overreacted."
"It's okay. It's a complicated situation. But listen, it's okay if you don't want me around. I've already packed my things. I've got a hotel room. I think I'm gonna to a new city."
"You don't have to do that."
"I want to. I just want to get back to being me..." he trailed off, and gazed out the window.
"I understand."
She hugged him. He smiled. He already had a U-HAUL waiting outside ('how long had he been up?' she wondered.)
Once he was gone, she sat down and just sighed. An entire chapter of her life was over. She was on her own, a single woman, with no fake niece. She just sat and enjoyed the paper for a few minutes while she brewed a fresh pot of coffee.
That's when she heard it.
"AIEEEEEEE!"
It was a high pitched, girly scream. It eminated from Nicki's old room. Startled to find she was not as alone as she'd though, Megan rushed into Nicki's room to find Nicki - the young girl Nick had just been - staring at herself in the mirror with a look of shocked horror on her face, dressed baggily in Nick's pyjamas.
"What the fuck?!" Cried Megan.
"You tell me!" the mysterious Nicki screamed in reply. "You're the one who wanted me to change back!"
"Nick?!" Megan gasped.
"Of course it's me you cunt!" snarled the young girl, "Who else would it be?!"
"You left!"
"I did not, I just woke up! You turned off my alarm and transformed me, didn't you?! Jesus fuck, Megan, I never thought you'd sink so low..."
"I didn't do this."
"Bullshit."
"I mean it! It must've been--" Megan's jaw dropped.
"Where's Katie?" asked Nicki.
"I think she left..." she said in a near whisper.
"Well SHE didn't do it," snapped Nicki, "and you wanted this."
"Nicki-- Nick... I think she left... in YOUR body."
