That could actually be a great clue on what he should do next. Kazuki honestly did not care at first. All he wanted was a roof over his head and food in his stomach. Their initial ostracization and teasing was something that he felt he had to endure until he could be transferred to a new base in a different country. Kazuki had only been going through the motions and doing what he had been told by the drill sergeants and his instructors. It was all for his survival as a half Japanese orphan walking the streets of the country he was born in. Japan was a harsh country to live in if you did not fit in with what they wanted. Kazuki's red hair marked him as someone not worthy of their respect or care. It did not matter to him what role he had until he had his first party as a Top. When he was told he could achieve more and become a Switch, an ambition was sparked in him. He wanted to be a Switch. Now that he was one, he had to stop and assess his current situation. There certainly was a bit of pride in his work that he had come this far. Not many recurits could boast 12 successful synchronizations.

8 of those successes came as a Top. The other 4 synchronizations were realized as a Bottom. Kazuki had also put his name out there with the diversity of partners that a lot of those successes came with. Diversity showed the flexibility a pilot had to work with a wide range of people. Kazuki had proved that during his time on base. He had managed to pair up with Ryuga, Aito, Jiro, Eiji and Haruki from Squad 2. Kazuki had certainly had liked pairing up with some of them more than others. Haruki, Haruto and Ryuga had all been really good friends to him. Aito and Jiro were certainly friendly although it was mostly out of convenience. Like it or not, Kazuki had the pulses to get things done. Eiji was... Eiji. Kenji and Kaito were nice, but they were more like the friends of his friends. He had not had a personal or deep conversation with either of them. He hated Minato and Aoi. Minato had been racist and emotionally abuse to Kazuki in person. Aoi had been physically and sexually abusive to Haruto, his friend, in front of them. Kazuki would never forgive either of them for what they did in here.

Ultimately the choice was his. He could use the reasons given but the others in his squad to come up with an answer. What did he want to do as a pilot? What felt better for him? Did he even want to choose just 1 thing? Those were all things that he had to consider very carefully before Squad 3 was called in to get all of their shots in the base's infirmary. Whatever the final choice was, it had to be something he would be able to live with for the rest of his career as a pilot. When he Topped, he could feel a deep connection to the Bottom. A warm feeling enveloped him. Kazuki could experience their top of mind thoughts and some of their most powerful memories. He would be able to take control of the Shine and use it to fight the enemies that came to Earth. When he Bottomed, there was still a deep connection to the Top. It was different though. A tingling sensation ran through his whole body from his spine to every part of him. Kazuki could feel as his all thoughts and memories were directed to flow and change as the Top grounded himself. He would keep the Shine running in the fights.

He still had to answer all those crucial questions. Did he actually like to Top? Did he actually like to Bottom? Was that something he wanted to do for real in combat? Was he interested in doing both roles? What did he want for himself? It was something very important. The U.N. piloting job was already his. Kazuki was already being given a comfort woman for him to start a family with. That was all of his major needs taken care of. He had to focus on his real desires now. He spent the first few days thinking about it by himself. Kazuki spent until he got the call to walk down with his squad mates to the infirmary thinking about it. When he stepped inside and saw the female doctor waiting for them, he knew that he needed to make his final decision. There were no take backs after the serum was administered. She gave them all a form telling them what vaccines they would take. They also had to write in which serum they wanted and sign the form. Whatever he chose to take would be permanent. Kazuki took a deep breath as he made his final decision. Kazuki would take their Top serum now.
