Not only would there be essentially concubines for them, but there was something else they would be given as well. They would be given vaccines to protect them from illnesses that came from interacting with aliens from the far off galaxies. The Radiant Ones and their allies were friendly to humanity, but there were still a lot of diseases that could be transmitted both ways. There were also diseases that their enemies would love to spread to kill them off even faster than through war. That would not be the only injections that they would be getting. As part of the signed treaty with the Radiant Ones, only registered pilots could get a special serum made from their DNA. It boosted the humans capacity to pilot by increasing a chosen pulse by 20. It was a one time dosage, but it would last them a lifetime. They would be getting the serum corresponding to the role they had earned. Switches had a big choice to make when they got to the infirmary. They could either choose one to take the standard serum and increase one role by 20, or take 2 lesser serums and increase each role by 10.
It was totally up to them. Kazuki really had to think about it. When it came to emitting the Black Pulse, his best was a 72. That was with Eiji on the 10th week of their first stage. His best White Pulse was a 66 with Aito. With that level of pulse, taking a full serum would do well for him. If he took the Bottom serum here, he would be in the high 80's- low 90's range. That would allow him to synch with practically anyone that he wanted to. If he took the Top serum, he would be in the low to mid 80's. That was still a great place to be when it came to picking partners. On the other hand, he could take the 2 lesser serums. If he did that, Kazuki would be in the high 70's- low 80's range when he Bottomed. He would also be in the low to mid 70's when he Topped someone. That was good, but it would certainly limit him in his career as a pilot. The scientist went on to explain why the waited this long to give it to them. "Radiant DNA is very polarizing. It either can do something, or it won't. If we gave you all the serum at the beginning, your pulses would rise by 10, but stagnate where you were then."
Kazuki remembered where he and Jiro were when they first paired up the first 3 weeks of the program. Neither of them would have made it through like that. Waiting was the best policy to ensure growth. That did raise a question. "Wait a minute. If the serum can move your pulses up by 20, why couldn't the guys that got cut get it? It might have made them better." Eiji asked for him. It seemed it was something that others were thinking about as well. The scientist adjusted his glasses. "Of course. That was what I was going to get into. The boys with 2 successes or less were cut because of the standards set by the U.N. However, every country has a right to dictate their own national policies. Because 4 of them did hit the 2 success mark, they were offered to sign a contract with a neighboring base. Out of the 4, 3 signed on. The Japanese military owns them now. One was given the Top serum and the other was given the Bottom serum. They spent the last week off base getting to know each other as new, auxiliary partners. They are now this base's back up should we drop below 4 teams."
