Together, that was more than enough for a connection to be reached. Now they just needed to hold it. Kazuki had no problem. He was used to sharing his mind with Aito in their world. However, while before it had been Kazuki listening out for all the thoughts and memories of Aito, it was now a matter his own thoughts and memories being driven by Aito's search. Just as they had 30 seconds to go, he was starting to pant. It was hard to maintain a role with a partner when the emitted pulse was uneven. It went both ways. Tops felt like the were holding unresponsive controls when they were the lesser partner. Extra force and willpower needed to be expended to move or do anything. Bottoms could barely feel the partner inside them. To keep the connection running, the needed to devote space in their mind to hold a tighter grip to prevent sudden disconnection. Bottoms felt like a heavy weight was pressing down on him when they were lesser partners. Tops could tell when commands and movements all went through a serious lag. Moving it was like wading through molasses for them then.
For example, Minato was an excellent Bottom. He could get to the 80's with his Black Pulse. No member of the squad could get near him in terms of White Pulse. When it came to connections, it was all on him. That was one of the reasons Minato was so cocky and domineering. It was because of the fact that he knew none of the boys in his squad could fill him. Minato gripped you and pulled you in. That was not the way it was supposed to be. The fact that Aito was starting to have trouble maintaining his own White Pulse as a Top this long was telling. Minato gripped him with such a high level of Black Pulse that it did not matter if Aito faltered a bit at the end. Minato was always in control. Kazuki could lessen the burden on Aito by lowering his own Black Pulse. However, that was a big risk. 48 and 68 made 116. The lowest acceptable level of combined pulse for the average to work was 102. He did not have much lower to go before risking breaking their connection off entirely. Especially if Aito's pulse began to drop as well due to not being able to hold it up. Luckily, it never came to that.
Really good for them was the fact that it auto completed at the 3 minute mark if a connection was recognized. It had only taken them about 35 seconds to get up to their max output for the session. Still, wavering only 2 minutes in was not a good sign. Aito was not trying to be a Top however. Kazuki noticed no such wavering when he was in the Top position. If he decided to stay as a Bottom, Aito would be totally fine. That was a good thing. Thus, the first synchronization of the shakeup was a success. It would hopefully be a sign of things to come. Kazuki had achieved enough to be registered as a Switch. Aito had finished his fifth successful synchronization. The boy had now Topped 3 times and Bottomed 2 times. Therefore he would be made a Top. He was still in the shakeup process with 5 more attempts. If he wanted, he easily could try to Bottom again and become a Switch. In fact, that was what they had already planned from the start. He seemed much more comfortable Bottoming anyway. As for his partnership with Akio, that was up to them. Kazuki was not going to comment at all.
