A pilot could only fire one Pulse at a time. Both pilots could potentially get up to a full 100 in either pulse. It would take him too much time to diminish the Black Pulse he was emitting. Then he would have to focus on the emitting the White Pulse. Luckily for them, Jiro was standing by near him. "Alright! Alright, I got it." he said as he closed his eyes to focus. When a Top pilot released their White Pulse, it came from the groin area. It was said by the pilots on base that every 4 notches of the meter gave the pilot a single cm. Having a White Pulse of 43 on the first try was very good. His pilot suit also faded away. His briefs tented up as the pulse was generated. He looked like he had an erection. Clearly, neither of them had high enough of a pulse for a full connection. Jiro slammed his fist on the bed. "Shit! This fucking sucks!" he said. Kazuki looked over his shoulder at him. He did not have sympathy for him. A slacker thinking that he could cruise his way through without trying was now breaking under a bit of pressure. It was time to put up or shut up. Jiro was shutting down. Not good in here.
Crying about it was not going to change anything. Especially when they had not even really started. Their qualification as pilots relied on them getting only 5 successes in the 10 sessions that were scheduled. "Might as well go for it anyway. Who knows what's going to happen until we actually do it!?" Jiro just sniffled and grabbed Kazuki by the hips. Just as expected, nothing happened. Jiro was gripping onto Kazuki way too tightly. Also, as a straight boy, Kazuki did not enjoy the sensation of having his ass grinded against by another boy's dick. It wasn't really a dick, but it certainly felt that way against his butt. Jiro was frustrated and panicking. "C'mon. C'mon! Work already pulse!" he called out. After 30 seconds, the session timed out and everything faded to black. Both of them took off their helmets. It was deemed a failure. As they hung around the hanger, they were able to see the results of the other members of their squad. Ryuga and Aito had also failed. That was good for Kazuki. It would be harder to put blame on him if his group was not the only one to fail. They were all disappointed.
Unsurprisingly, Minato was a major powerhouse as a Bottom pilot. Eiji was able to coast even with his mediocre pulse. He was essentially riding Minato to victory. Kazuki did think that it was a bit shady that he got a success for less work. Each of them had free reign on who in their squad they could partner with for their attempts. It was made known to them, however, that their portfolio would look much better with a diversity of partners. Kazuki was a social pariah. No one really wanted to synchronize with him. They also did not want to entrust their future progress in the program on the total slacker of the group. Eiji would not give up partnering Minato for anything. The rest of the squad knew why. That made things settle where the were initially. The drill instructors had purposely spread the synchronizations out so they would attempt it once a week. That gave all 24 of the boys there ample time to grow in the ability to emit pulses. His first maximum Black Pulse output was 32. The second time was 35. It was a minuscule improvement but it was something. Jiro was also improving to a 46.
