Being that we had prisoners to kill, we needed to get on with the execution. The humans was the one that spat at me. The lizardkin was totally silent. I escorted the nice bishop out of the chapel. We then walked into the plaza. It was now time to get this show on the road. Bishop Franco got in front of the crowd and addressed them. They were angry and wanted to see them die. The more horrible pain the better. I did not think there could be any amount of suffering that they could go through the crowd would not cheer on here. I did not care for them. They were horrible and cause a ton of damage. I watched on as he gave way for the executioners get to work. They had a torch and set them on fire. Walking to each of the pyres, they edged closer to the condemned. I watched as the pyres were tossed on the kindling. That straw and such caught fire and began to spread. They did not look remorseful or bothered. As the fire and smoke moved closer, they got closer to death. I watched the entire thing. All of the crowd cheered and jeered as they were burned up. I just sighed as they both died.
Even my kids were watching this. They did not really understand what was going on with them. I had to pull them away to explain it to them. Since nothing seemed to be coming from this, I decided to take them home. They all were confused. It took a bit to explain that. None of them were around when they had attacked the church and cathedral. It was a very weird case now. A human was leading a mob of demihuman cultists. They were all killed, so it was a bit of a hassle to figure out what was behind it all. Alpha, Beta and Gamma seemed to be really confused. They did not get why they were there in the first place. Since they were all level 484, between all of the people that they fought, it was a foregone conclusion they would kill all of them. Since that was the case, they did not understand the concept of taking prisoners during battle. I guessed that this was a unique problem. I pulled each of them closer for a really big hug. They were really happy to be hugged. "I just wanted to hug you guys. It is nice. Some people are not as strong as you all. You have to understand this." I said.
Finally, I put them to bed so they could get some rest. It was a rough day. Since that was a real execution, I looked out of the window and sighed. I did not see where the plotline would pick up. Maybe it was a dead end. Maybe I had to wait for a bit. This is something that made the system so dynamic. You never knew what could happen if an encounter in the world happened. It could be nothing, or it could be the start of something amazing. I had thought that this would be the latter instance. Now that this was done, we needed to see what would happen. If this did not lead anywhere, we could simply move on and do something else. I was a bronze ranked mercenary. All of us could do a lot of work for the kingdom. We were already knighted by the Church of the Sky. Since that was the case I was really optimistic. Knowing that we all were a bunch of strong fighters, there was nothing that we could not do together. We could become adventurers. We could become nobles. I wondered what Paul was up to at the moment. Being Devils sounded really exciting. I did not have all the buffs anymore.
