"We can go to the school library to check it" said Sarah. "Look on the Internet to see what day it is."
At that point, Karyn knew that Sarah had been changed by her experience. Sarah, suggesting going to the library? "We don't need to" said Karyn. "I wish I knew if that was a real problem." She blinked and said "It's okay, Sarah. It really is just a day later. You went back in time. As long as you don't go home for the next month, where your adult self is, you won't even be changing the past."
"May I use the rock?" asked Sarah. "Please?" Another word not usually associated with Sarah. Jon gave her the rock, and she then made the wish, "I wish that I can go home without changing the past for the next month because everyone there, even my adult self, will think it's perfectly normal to be there, but will forget that I was there as soon as I'm out of their sight."
Sarah handed the rock back to Jon.
They got up to stand on line for some actual food, first Sarah, then Jon, then Karyn. Sarah ended up waiting right behind Sylvia, another blonde, bimbo, cheerleader.
"Ooh, hi, Sarah" she squealed. "Are you feeling okay? You were sick yesterday."
"I wasn't just sick" she explained. "I don't really want to talk about it."
"You must have been more than sick" said Sylvia. "You're with Jon and Karyn! How lame...." She leaned over to Sarah's face and whispered "Are you just doing that to get homework help?"
"You know, they can hear you" said Sarah. "You really should learn, Sylvia, that 'bimbo' is a state of mind."
"I don't care about my state of mind" said Sylvia. "We want you back in practice today! Coming?"
Sarah's eyes lit up. She really did enjoy cheerleading, and hadn't had a chance to do it in a while. "Of course!" she replied.
Jon may have had sex with Sarah, but it was obvious that he didn't really understand her. He had expected Sarah to turn down the chance the same way she turned down the chance to pick on Freddie. Fingering the rock, he said "I wish I knew...."
