So far Jon, now Juniper's, wish had made sweeping changes to Lakeview, and it wasn't done. Even though the wish was centered on the Gibsons, it was having some far reaching effects. The magic had already changed each member of the family, including two, Rachel and Roger/Roxie, who Juniper hadn't originally considered, but, due to the perhaps not well thought out wording of the wish, there were four more individuals waiting to have there roles flipped with the first person they spoke to.
Biff and Bethany had just undergone there changes at the mall, causing massive changes to the economy and culture of the town as they did so, but the magic still had the randomly selected associates of Zoe, Mikey, Roger and Rachel to transform. In that moment, across the town, each of them was unknowingly about to stumble into an entirely new life.
At Lakeview Middle Mrs. Kincaid, Mikey's least favorite but now Michaela's favorite teacher, was cursing under her breath for having forgotten her student's papers at the school over the weekend. Emma Kincaid was a slim, not particularly curvy woman with a dark brown bob, wearing a respectable forest green dress and flats. She'd driven over there by herself and decided to just go ahead and do her grading in her classroom, before heading home. She lived alone in a modest suburban home; she'd always wanted a family but she found herself at 35 and still single. She actually had a blind date that night but she'd been doing that dance long enough not to get her hopes up. She sighed and packed her bag, muttering to herself "C'mon Emma, what have you got to lose?" Walking out of the school, she had no clue she was walking towards the person who's role was about to belong to her instead.
Downtown, in a dingy apartment above Doug's Pool Hall, Stacee Lawson woke up very late with a hangover, a reminder of the previous night's bender. It wasn't out of the ordinary for the party girl turned cocktail waitress. She groaned as she rose from the tangled sheets, realizing she'd actually made it back to her own bed for a change. Bottle blonde hair fell in her face before she pushed it back. Once upon a time she'd been the hottest girl on the block, but years of hard living had dulled her spark a bit. She was only 29 and still really quite attractive but starting to feel the effects of all the smoking, drinking and partying she did. The reason she was significant though, was that, before she'd lost the gig for constant tardiness, she'd been a secretary at the company Roger worked for and the two had a brief fling before reality shifted and made Roxie a truly devoted partner to Linda. They still knew each other in a very casual way though, and that was enough for the magic to work, as she would find when she went to answer the knock at the door.
Before the wish made her the mayor, Rachel hadn't known many people in Lakeview for the stone to choose between, but it found a target nonetheless. Her high school prom date had been Edgar Saunders. The two had been hot and heavy but weren't a couple for long, as the basketball player had been a bit of a playboy. Even now, past his prime, he was still a handsome man and well put together, wearing a short sleeved polo and khaki shorts. More importantly for the wish, he lived in town, having settled down with a stylist named Gabriella, with whom he had a daughter, the current vice-captian of the cheerleading squad, Tiffany. Edgar worked as a successful car salesman, owning his own dealership, and one of the perks of being the boss was that he could set his own hours. That morning he'd hit the Emerald Hlls Country Club for a round of golf; unfortunately his caddy had gotten sick at the last moment so he'd had to carry his clubs himself, leaving him in solitude until he was returning to the club house. There he was about to bump into someone and trigger the magic yet again.
Zoe, before the wish, had kept almost exclusively to her insular clique of goth friends. The magic could have picked the cyber-goth Zelda, the angsty Sabrina, or even the occult loving Athena, who's charms might have tried to resist the magic, but instead it settled not on one of her friends, but on one of her enemies. Nadine Ferguson was actually in Jon's year, not hers, but the fundamentalist girl frequently clashed with their group over their embrace of the occult, proselytizing to them every chance she got. The sheltered girl had spent her morning alone, since both her parents were attending a planning meeting for their church's new annex that Saturday morning. She'd already completed her homework, read her daily bible verse, and started on her chores. A secret part of herself, that she was deeply ashamed of, wished her family could be a bit like that of her peers, with a television, some none religious books on the shelf, or maybe even one of those video game things. She pushed that feeling down and focused on fulfilling her responsibilities. That's probably how she would have spent the rest of the day if a ringing of the doorbell didn't summon her to the person who would change her life forever, standing on the doorstep.
